Industrial Ball Valve Types

Choose the valve construction based on the actual technical requirement. These categories describe different design dimensions: metal seating can coexist with a trunnion construction, and top entry can coexist with a particular ball support system.

Technical buying guidance

Choosing the primary valve category

Start from the feature driving the purchase: ball support, maintenance access, pressure shell construction, isolation arrangement or seating system.

Avoid false equivalence

Do not use DBB and DIB interchangeably. Do not use fully welded and butt weld interchangeably. Do not treat material grade as proof of the complete valve assembly composition.

Information required for a price offer

Prepare size, class, medium, temperature, material list, ends, operating method, seat design, testing requirements, documents, quantity and destination.

Material grades, pressure classes, valve dimensions, tests and certification requirements must be confirmed for the actual offered configuration. No stock status or certification is implied by this page.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better: floating or trunnion?

Neither is universally better; valve size, pressure, torque, duty and project design decide the selection.

Can a top-entry valve be metal seated?

Yes, these terms describe different design dimensions. Confirm the available construction.

What to include in your valve RFQ

Send the full technical datasheet with valve type, line size, pressure class, media, design temperature and end connection.

Include seating/leakage requirements, stem sealing, body and trim materials and actuation. For isolation duties, define the required seat and bleed philosophy.

Technical documents such as GA drawings, inspection plans and material certificates should be requested with the RFQ so the offered configuration can be checked against your project specification.
